A detailed look at the mutliplayer mode set to appear in the PSP Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion Wars game.
It was announced late last year that the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics remake for the PSP would include new characters, new jobs, the addition of cel-shaded cutscenes, and an overhauled soundtrack. Perhaps most intruigingly, a multiplayer mode was also announced, but details have been sparse until today.
Japanese gaming site Famitsu.com released details today, confirming that adhoc multiplayer will be available for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War. Players will be able to pit their teams against one another in a versus mode, choosing either a fight to the finish, or a timed battle where the team with the most hit points after a certain number of moves wins. Before the battle players will also be able to set terrain-based effects, such as traps, that are hidden from their opponents.
After the battle, the winner is allowed to several treasure chests selectable from a ring. The number of chests that can be opened is based on the team's overall battle performance. Play smarter and with fewer losses, and you get to open more chests after the battle, which increases your chances of receiving rare items for your team.
No mention was given of a cooperative mode, unfortunately.

Teams are divided into a Red team and a Blue team.
The winning team gets to choose a number of chests to open depending on their performance.
