According to various internet reports Epic designer Cliff "Cliffy B" Bleszinski recently confirmed during his GDC speech that Epic Games "intend to do a sequel" to the award-winning Gears of War.

A recent post on the Epic Games forum by Epic vice president Mark Rein has since gone on to state that the various news reports are wrong and that Bleszinki never stated any such thing during his talks.

Though there are now apparently no plans to develop a sequel to Gears of War, it would seem inevitable that a sequel for the game will be developed at some point, due to the huge popularity and success that the game has enjoyed, especially when Rein so regularly refuses to confirm or deny such claims.

The rumors of a Gears sequel wasn't the only news surrounding the game at GDC though, as it succeeded in picking up three trophies at the GDC Awards last week, including the most coveted Best Game award.
