Bethesda Softworks has confirmed today that the first full expansion pack for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, named Shivering Isles, will see a simultaneous release in all territories on March 27.

Despite numerous official and fan based mods for the game, Shivering Isles is the first proper expansion pack for Oblivion. Continuing the original's deep lore, it sees your adventurer travelling to the warped realm of Daedra Prince Sheogorath with the task of saving the day once again.

Unfortunately, fans looking forward to another expansion pack in the near future are in for disappointment, as Bethesda has no plans to release any more official expansions after Shivering Isles.

"Perhaps another download or so, but other then that, we don't have any plans to do another expansion after Shivering Isles," said executive producer Todd Howard.

None of this take away from the huge amount of extra gameplay and bonus content set to appear in Shivering Isles though. In addition to 200 new weapons and over 80 new pieces of armour, the game will also feature many new monsters and crafting abilities. Design director Bruce Nesmith claims the game will require upwards of 30-40 hours to play through.
