WoW Smashing Sales Records: The Burning Crusade sells its 3.5 millionth copy

It's only been a month, but Burning Crusade has already passed the three-point-five million mark in sales, with many more weeks to go.

Blizzard has announced today that, within the one month span after World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade hit stores on January 16th, the MMORPG expansion pack has already reached sales of approximately 3.5 million copies worldwide. In fact, as we had reported earlier, sales reports from the NPD group and various other data sources indicate that 2.4 million of those copies were sold within just a 24-hour period. In contrast, no other PC has ever sold that many copies within an entire first month of availability.

"The Burning Crusade saw record-breaking first-week sales at GAME and sales have been continuously strong since then," said Tricia Brennan, Commercial Director of the GAME Group, UK. "World of Warcraft has proved such a success thanks to its strong player following and superb gameplay, and we anticipate more people joining this fast-growing community throughout the year."

Combined with the original World of Warcraft game, worldwide usership is currently at more than 8.5 million, with that number expecting to grow as Blizzard taps into even more international markets. So far, the game has been launched in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. But in addition to these regions, The Burning Crusade was recently made available in the Korean market on February 12th, and will soon hit other Asian regions, including mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

hey i play wow on 2 diferent private servers (one is alianza and the other is an horde account) and they are just full of people plying so i dont think they suck!!!!!!!

so its much better to play private servers if you dont want to pay to play!!! $15/month == $180/year!!!!!!!!!!! without buying the game witch costs $40 and the expansions!!!!!

ooohh yeah and if you want to sell your account in a private server you dont have to worry about including the subscription of each month in the price !!!! what i am trying to say is that you can win much more money selling your account on a private server!!!
