Lost Planet: Top selling game of January

Capcom celebrates its earnings with the rest of the industry, which gets off to a great start to 2007 with a total of $1.25 billion in total sales.

According to statistics provided by NPD, Capcom's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition topped console software charts in the U.S. for the period between December 31st, 2006 and February 3rd, 2007. The Xbox 360 game earned first place by selling a total of 329,000 copies. Guitar Hero II for the PS2 snatched second place with 224,000 copies while sales chart veteran Gears of War earned third with 212,000 copies sold.

7) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo, GameCube)
8) Resistance: Fall of Man (SCEA, PS3)
9) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft, Xbox 360)
10) New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo, DS)

In addition to the sales rankings, NPD also reported that $1.25 billion worth of console products were sold within the extended January sales period. $549 million of the total was based on software sales, while console hardware accounted for $505 million. $198 million in sales was attributed to game accessories.
