So what did you win? (AKA, The Conclusion)
Perhaps not surprisingly, RSV holds its own against Gears. However, there's one thing Gears does quite nicely that you don't see as much of in RSV...
Motion Blur
Gears has motion blur in spades. Every time you rotate your character, in fact. However, whether this is "good" or "bad" depends on your tastes. When it comes down to it, the most noticeable difference we see in Gears is that is has more organic environments -- particularly the caves. RSV contains a more urban environment.
Either way, both games are enjoyable. The multiplayer portion is where the visuals diverge, however. Vegas puts more processing power towards a higher number of players (up to sixteen), while Epic chooses to maintain Gears' visual style for up to eight people at a time. However, we have experienced slowdowns in RSV multiplayer once that cap is reached.
If you want to show of the Xbox 360, or a fancy TV, or both, either one of these games will do you fine. Oh, and they both rock pretty hard regardless.
