We give you the complete guide to everything undead in Azeroth
This lich is one of the many undead you'll be facing
With the recent 1.11 patch Blizzard has introduced the Scourge Invasion to the World of Warcraft. The main feature of the patch touted by Blizzard is their shiny new 40 man raid instance, the Necropolis Naxxramas found floating over Stratholme in the Eastern Plaguelands. For those of us not in 40 man raiding guilds there is a wealth of content surrounding the invasion that doesn't involve nearly the time commitment required by Naxxramas. Other Necropili are now invading all over Azeroth. And the Argent Dawn, the order dedicated to irradicating the scourge, is offering all kinds of incentives for those brave enough to take on the undead menace.
This guide will focus on those rewards and how to get them, as well as all the inner workings of the Argent Dawn and how to obtain the highest levels of reputation with this holy order.
The Argent Dawn
The Argent Dawn Base Camp in Eastern Plaguelands
In order to take full advantage of what the new content offers you will need to know how the Argent Dawn works. The Argent Dawn was formed by former Scarlet Crusade members who found the methods of the Crusade to be far too extreme and suspected corruption in the highest ranks of the order. So the Argent Dawn was formed with the same overall goal of destroying the scourge, just with far less inclination towards slaughtering innocent people. Before the invasion ever came the Argent Dawn already offered rewards to those who battled the existing scourge in The Plaguelands.
To get these rewards players have to achieve a high reputation with the Argent Dawn. Reputation in World of Warcraft works like experience, where there are different levels of reputation. You begin at Neutral then progress to Friendly, Honored, Revered, and Exalted levels of reputation, with each level taking 3000, 6000, 12000, and 21000 points of reputation respectively. You gain reputation points both by killing undead in The Plaguelands, Stratholme, and Scholomance and by completing specifics quests given out by Non Player Character members of the Argent Dawn.
The following methods of gaining reputation were in the game before the 1.11 content patch and are still effective methods of gaining reputation with the Argent Dawn.
Scourgestones
Expect this abomination to cough up either a Minion's or an Invader's Scourgestone
To understand how to start getting Argent Dawn Reputation you need to know how to get Scourgestones. When get to the Western Plaguelands, you will be given a trinket called an Argent Dawn Commission. You get this from either Bulwark if you're a Horde player or at Chillwind Camp if you're in the Alliance. As soon as you equip the trinket undead that you kill now have a chance to drop a scourgestone. Scourgestones will only drop from mobs in either the Plaguelands, or in the Stratholme or Scholomance instances. Depending on the relative power of the creature you're killing you will either get a Minion's, Invader's, or Corruptor's Scourgestone.
Turning in either 20 Minion's, 10 Invader's, or 1 Corruptor's Scourgestones will get you an Argent Dawn Valor Token. Upon Turning in the required amounts of Scourgestones you will immediately recieve 25 reputation points with the Argent Dawn. Right clicking on and "using" a Valor Token will give you an additional 25 reputation points with the Argent Dawn. Scourgestones have always been a part of the game, but are an integral part in understanding how to take care of what the Argent Dawn offers in this new patch.
Cauldron Quests
The scourge has set up a series of Cauldrons in the Western Plaguelands filled with a concoction they call The Plague. The Plague is capable of killing living things and turning them into undead servants of the Lich King. The Argent Dawn, apparently, has a problem with this. There is a quest giver at your faction's Western Plaguelands camp that gives you a series of progressively well guarded Cauldrons which are all set up on abandoned farmsteads.
Each quest is done in essentially the same manner. You go the specified Cauldron (the locations are well documented in the quest description), kill the Cauldron Lord there, take his Cauldron Key, Unlock the Cauldron, and fill the empty sample bottle given to you by the quest giver. After you have brought back a sample of every Cauldron you will be able to repeatedly sabotage the Cauldrons for good amounts of Argent Dawn Reputation.
A skeletal mage in the Eastern plaguelands
The first step in waging endless war against the scourge is to purchase a Vitreous Focuser from either the Apocethary or the Alchemist (again depending on your faction) from your side's camp in the Western Plaguelands. With this item in your inventory new items will begin dropping from the undead creatures you kill in the Western plaguelands. The following items are collected from the following creatures:
Osseous Agitators: Found from Skeletal type Undead
Somatic Intensifiers: Found from Ghoul type Undead
Ectoplasmic Resonators: Found on Ghost type Undead
The above components are necessary for sabotaging a Cauldron. You will also need some additional materials:
Runecloth: A common drop throughout the world that can be found on the undead you're killing already.
Arcane Quickener: Purchased from the same NPC scam artist who sold you your Vitreous Focuser.
The following are the exact amounts of what material are needed to sabotage each Cauldron and the reputation you gain from each:
| Runecloth | Arcane Quickener | Quest Items | Reputation Points Gained | |
| Felstone Field Cauldron | 4 Pieces | 1 Arcane Quickener | 6 Osseous Agitators | 15 Argent Dawn Reputation points |
| Writhing Haunt Cauldron | 4 Pieces | 1 Arcane Quickener | 5 Somatic Intensifiers | 25 Argent Dawn Reputation points |
| Dalson's Tears Cauldron | 4 Pieces | 1 Arcane Quickener | 5 Somatic Intensifiers | 25 Argent Dawn Reputation points |
| Gahhron's Withering | 4 Pieces | 1 Arcane Quickener | 4 Ectoplasmic resonators | 25 Argent Dawn Reputation points |
