In this intense sequel to the beloved series, you have only three days to save the world. "Not much time", you say. "Plenty", we say? if you use your time wisely.
What a Difference Three Days MakeThree days can go a long way when you can keep going back to the first day over and over and over. In this ProTip Guide, you'll find 10 very useful tips for survival in one of the most time-constrained games out there. We'll get you started by helping you find some very useful items and by showing you the best areas to spend your time in at the beginning of your quest. Make sure you check back next week for more in-depth coverage of Majora's Mask.
Retrieving the Ocarina of Time
There are certain tasks you must complete in order to recover the Ocarina of Time. Don't get distracted by talking to people or any of the many places you can visit in town until you have completed those tasks. You'll have plenty of time for everything else later on.
First, return the missing fairy piece to learn magic. Second, burst the balloon (with one big bubble) in front of the Fairy's digs to be challenged by Jim. Find the Kids and learn the secret code to visit
the laboratory (the code changes every time you play the game). Third, use the telescope to trigger an event, pick up the Moon's Tear and give it to the Deku scrub (South Clock Tower) to receive the Land Title Deed. Now you can use the flower to fly to the entrance of the clock tower, pick up a Heart Piece, and meet the Skull Kid. The doors will open at midnight of the final day (if you're early, you can just hang out on the ledge to avoid being late).
The Skull Kid
Once you make it up the stairs, the timer starts. Your goal here is to knock the ocarina from Skull Kid's hands. Just like busting the balloon earlier, a big bubble is all it takes. Once the ocarina is on the floor, run to it to trigger an event. After the event, assign the ocarina to one of the buttons and play it. Don't worry, the ocarina looks different when you're not in your true form. Now your game will be saved and you'll be returned to the first day. Go talk to the mask guy, and don't worry? you didn't fail.
Acquiring the Bomber's Notebook
One of the most important items in the game is the Bomber's Notebook. As soon as Link is turned back to his original form, go find the kid guarding the secret entrance to the observatory and enter it again. When you come back out, you'll be welcomed into the gang and receive the Notebook.
