The "n00b Combo"
Anyone who's played even a few games of Halo 2 online knows that the combination of a Plasma Pistol and Battle Rifle can deliver almost instant death. Even Bungie, shortly after the release of Halo 2, announced that they never intended for the so-called "n00b combo" to be so devastating. As a result, Bungie modified the matchmaking playlists to limit its frequency. It was initially taboo to use the combo at all, but now shameless players are slowly bringing it back into fashion. In reality, it's just an easy way out against better players.

De-Leveling
De-leveling, in which a player purposefully tries to lower his matchmaking ranking, is pandemic on Xbox Live. Rarely can you play consecutive matchmaking sessions without some jackass(es) killing themselves or teammates for the purpose of lowering their ranking. Why? Because they want to play in low-ranked matches and dominate inexperienced players. C'mon, that's like Billy Madison whipping the dodgeball mercilessly at third graders. Yeah, it's funny, but we all know it's not fair. And, smart guy, there are plenty of unranked games to play in if you want to wail on some newbs. Stop ruining everyone else's fun!
"If it were scored like golf, I'd be way ahead!"
Brandishing the Energy Sword
The Energy Sword lights up like a Christmas tree (even if you're decked out in active camouflage), so experienced players know not to whip it out until the last possible second. The correct move is to switch to a standard, weaker weapon like the SMG, then charge in on an opponent in a tight area and reveal your slashing stick just when they think they have a tiny glimpse of hope.
Jumping the gun ain't no fun.
