If you're not looking to pull out all your hair in frustration you may want to put this optional battle off until your second pass through the game. Sadly though, when you come back the second time you really won't need any strategy at all, just roll over Dario and go about your business. However, if you've decided that you're tough enough and you have an urge to beat him down the first time through the game, then you need to come seriously prepared. First, have your entire party decked out in as much Prism gear as possible. Second, aside from Prism gear, also come equipped with your best defensive items - you'll need them. Third, have Riddel in your party from the moment she joins it to build up her stats. She's needed for this battle to happen, and she will be your weak link. Fourth, stock a massive amount of White Elements, Dario is extremely vulnerable to them. Fifth, your 3rd party member should be either Leah (high HP and good damage) or Viper (great damage). Now you are ready for battle!
Dario is going to open hard, you should skip Serge's opening turn (by pressing square - not by defending) and then attack with Riddle. If you're lucky, you may be able to get Riddle's SnakeSkin out before his opening wave. If not, Dario will probably kill her first, so spread out your Revive Elements and bring her back. Use this with the stock of elements she may have gained to try to turn the field White as quickly as possible. Your goal here is to attack with high-end White Elements and attempt to summon Unicorn. If you've used SnakeSkin and summoned Unicorn you may actually win this fight, as your physical and Elemental defense ratings will go through the roof. Stay focused on keeping everyone alive, pound Dario with high-end White Elements like UltraNova, and you should be able to put him down for the count. However, if Dario snuffed Riddel before she got SnakeSkin out and you never had the chance to summon Unicorn, you're probably dead already.
