Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 [E3 2004]

In the middle of this E3 madness, GP had a chance to sit down with Konami to talk about the upcoming ninja turtles title. What are the big changes? Click and read, my underage friend, click and read.

The somewhat forced rebirth of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with the completely redone animated series and Konami?s cel-shaded arcade beat-em-up, has rekindled America?s love affair with humanoid turtles trained in deadly martial arts by a giant rat known as Splinter. It?s been a year since the last TMNT title, and fans are already hungry for more.

This time, up to four players can kick foot soldier ass together, allowing the turtles to fight as they were meant to?as a full team. Additionally, the differences between characters have been emphasized. For example, certain items can only be used by certain turtles, and there?s a lot more variety in their attacks and animations. Konami has also confirmed hidden characters, but when asked, refused to reveal who. Casey Jones, perhaps? We?ll have to wait and see.

Konami has done a lot to spice up TMNT 2 including adding jump puzzles to break up the monotony seen in the combat heavy original. The new levels are also more exotic, ranging from snowy Antarctica to outer space. Konami promises ?more unique gimmicks? on each level and a story that follows the second season of the animated show.

Surprisingly, TMNT is not popular among Japanese youth and TMNT 2 will not be released in Japan, but will be hitting American shelves sometime in October of this year.
