7 Best Upcoming Xbox 360 Exclusives

The 7 Best Upcoming Xbox 360 Exclusives

COMING SOON TO XBOX 360: See GamePro's picks for seven new games we want to play that are only on Xbox 360!

Although we're seeing less and less of them in this generation of games as more big titles are getting multi-platform releases, console exclusives, whether it's Mario for Nintendo, Halo for Microsoft, or God of War for Sony, are what distinguish gaming platforms from each other. What's the point of having three separate gaming systems if they all play the same games? Last week, we talked about upcoming PS3 exclusives we're excited to play, and now it's time to move onto what the Xbox 360 has to offer in terms of games you won't find on its competitive consoles.

Here are seven Xbox 360-only games you're not going to want to miss. Be sure to read the next version of this feature coming soon, the best forthcoming Wii exclusives.

NOTE: Several of these will also be released on PC.

7. Crackdown 2

When you'll get to play it: Who knows.
What to play while you're waiting: Crackdown, Red Faction: Guerilla, inFAMOUS
Before you get your panties all in a bunch, we're well aware that Crackdown 2 hasn't been officially announced, but the first criminal-destroying sandbox game was so damn fun, we refuse to believe that the rumors that Crackdown 2 is in development aren't true. Something that leads us to believe that it is on the way is how earlier this month a brand-new Crackdown Xbox Live theme was released, over two years after the game came out!

There's also talk that the newly formed Scottish development studio Ruffian Games (which happens to be made up primarily of ex-members of the original Crackdown team) is hard at work on Crackdown 2. The first game also sold like hotcakes. So while the sequel hasn't been revealed yet, there's a good chance Crackdown crackheads will get another game at some point soon.

NOTE: The following video is for Crackdown, not Crackdown 2.

6. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction

When you'll get to play it: 2009
What to play while you're waiting: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Conviction is currently slated to come out on both the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo DS--so, yeah technically it's not exclusive to the 360, but you can bet your lunch money that the DS version will be an entirely different game, so that's why it's included on this list.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth game in the popular Splinter Cell series that takes place two years after the last game, Double Agent. Former Third Echelon agent and Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher returns in Conviction, sporting a new hipster hairdo, in order to save Anna Grimsdottir and figure out why the organization he once belonged to is in shambles. This is another game where there's a high likelihood it'll make some sort of an appearance (or get a solid release date) at E3 2009 next week.

5. Forza Motorsport 3

When you'll get to play it: 2009
What to play while you're waiting: Forza Motorsport 2, Pure, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
The last two games in Turn 10 Studios' eye-ball bursting racing sim series were and remain to be among the most highly-regarded next-gen racers, receiving near perfect scores pretty much across the board. In many ways, Forza Motorsport is the Xbox 360's answer to Sony's Gran Turismo series.

The third Forza game is expected to land sometime this year and we hope we'll see Forza 3 in some form at E3 2009. One detail about the game we know that's remarkable is how the game is supposed to span two full discs due to the sheer number of tracks and cars it packs into the game.

I would say Gears of war in stead of mass effect.
