GamePro names nine classic instances where audience members in the background steal the spotlight from the games themselves!
Most fighting, sports, and music games do an able job of making it seem like there's a large virtual audience watching you fight or play. Then there are these nine people, whose presence is so amazing that it almost distracts you from the game!

9. Prisoners
From: Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Ask any music aficionado about it, and many will tell you that Johnny Cash's Live from Folsom is one of the best live albums ever. The idea of a rock star not being intimidated by, and actually impressing a group of criminals is amazing. One stage from Guitar Hero III manages to portray the unique and ultimately rocking scene by having you perform in front of a crowd of prisoners wearing old-timey inmate's striped pajamas and ball and chains.

8. Miis
From: Wii Fit
The many Miis stored on your Wii make many appearances in Wii Fit, kicking soccer balls and watching you tightrope walk, but their presence is most notable during the Basic and Advanced Step stages. In those events, you and a group of your closest Miis do very rudimentary dances using the balance board. Somehow, that is entertainment enough for the rest of the Miis on your system, as well as Miis of your friends, if you have your system set to mingle.
7. Severed Heads
From: Time Killers
What kind of a sick bastard decorates his home stadium with decapitated heads? In the ridiculously hammy Mortal Kombat clone, Time Killers, a row of bleeding heads surround the Feudal Japan stage, which seems morbid but actually works well in eliminating the problem of aggravatingly loud drunks in the stands.
6. Knife-wielding Spectators
From: Pit Fighter
Walk too close to the crowd in this no-shirts-allowed slugfest and you may be surprised with a knife in your back. Not only can onlookers stab you for no reason in Pit Fighter, but you can also fight back, taking a break from pummeling your opponent to give the audience a taste of what they come to see in the ring.

The first time I played the overpass level in SF4, my brother and I were both up in laughter at the fat kid. And what about the spectators from Tekken Tag Tournament (Bowling), you could even hit Dr. Bostonovitch with your bowling ball.

Oh man, Pit Fighter, I forgot all about that game. I used to love that game as a kid. As for that fat kid in Street Fighter, he cracks me up every time. Jumping up and down and cheering at the end of each fight. He totally reminds me of the fat kid from Billy Madison in 2nd or 3rd grade. The one with the hat and the rattail, I know someone here has to remember that kid.
