GDC 2009: 16 things we want to see at GDC

GDC 2009 WISHLIST: The Game Developers Conference is upon us and these are the revelations, games, and topics we want to see in some form at this year's event.
From Nintendo:
Games, games, games.
Nintendo's been taking a conservative approach when it comes to unleashing new first-party games for Wii and DS, resulting in a slump in faith among their hardcore followers. C'mon Nintendo, just because sales for the Wii are through the roof, and have been ever since the console's release in 2006, doesn't mean you should get lazy. Why not use GDC 2009 to take the opportunity to tell us about those new Mario and Zelda games the teams behind those games are "hard at work" on?
An original new series, fer cryin' out loud!
How about some new game announcements that don't have Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Metroid, or Star Fox (by the way, where's Star Fox Wii?) in their titles. Enough with the rehashes! The last big game franchise Nintendo launched was Pikmin and that was eight years ago. It's time to get creative and dream up some new characters.
Playable Punch-Out!!
Now that MadWorld is already on store shelves, there's not a whole lot worth talking about in the Wii's foreseeable future, with only a handful of exceptions like The Conduit and Wii Sports Resort. And yeah, we want to play No More Heroes 2 too, but don't expect to see it any earlier than 2010. Punch-Out!! is the next big Wii game in Nintendo's bag of tricks, and since it's coming out before E3 2009, why not give us a taste of Little Mac's new game in playable form?
An update on Motion Plus.
Nintendo's Wii Remote attachment is currently slated for an early July release, bundled with Wii Sports Resort, but we've hardly heard a peep about the peripheral that is said to accurately capture complex motion, supposedly making upcoming games that support it like Red Steel 2 maximize the Wii's motion sensing technology. Wii Motion Plus might not seem like a huge deal, but it does show a lot of promise and we're curious to see more of it, hopefully at GDC 2009.

Nice article. One thing bothers me though, why is the Hideo Kojima part on the Sony part of the article and not on 3rd parties? I mean, neither he nor Konami belong to SONY, whats stopping them from making a game on the XBox 360 or on Wii?

"These are the lingering questions that torment game editors in the wee hours of the night."
As well as any poor soul like me who has spent literal hours pouring over the hundreds of hieroglyphs and symbols. Not to mention the time on Wikipedia researching these...
Give us a simple teaser!!

So glad to see Alan Wake on there. For me, most anticipated game of this generation.
