Round Three: Weapons
Resident Evil 4
Restricted to a single carrying case, RE4 players have to actually consider physical size when stacking shotgun shells alongside herbs and items. Not only does it force gamers to conserve their most precious gear, but it also forces Leon to literally stick to his guns. Speaking of which, the wide assortment of weapons from the Punisher to the Riot Gun more than make up for the fact that you have to fight the Ganados alone -- plus the inclusion of the Combat Knife makes all the difference in hand-to-hand fighting.
Resident Evil 5
The best part of the weapons system in RE5 is having a partner who collects and gives you ammo in the middle of a fight. Thanks to Sheva's pinpoint accuracy and smart A.I., managing your remaining ammo while fighting off hordes of rabid villagers is as fun as it is challenging. No matter what you're packing -- pistols, magnums, shotguns, rifles, or grenade launchers -- you're more than capable of laying waste to tons of villagers.
THE WINNER: Draw
Both Resident Evil games have an impressive and varied cache of weapons for every player to pick favorites. RE4's special weapons are impressive, but RE5's linchpin lineup sure isn't lacking in the firepower department.
Round Four: Enemies and Bosses
Resident Evil 5
If you think the Los Illumindos are trouble, then the Majini villagers in RE5 are just downright lethal. Even when you think you're safe taking refuge in a sealed building, all it takes is one huge axe swing from the Majini Executioner to bring down the house (and most of the walls). Even worse, the Majini are faster, smarter and packing more heat than the Ganados and Los Illuminados ever did, which is enough to deal with without the occasional attacks by giant mutant bats and enormous African wildlife. Throw in some wickedly tough boss battles with the return of resident psycho baddie Albert Wesker and you've in for one heck of a firefight.
Resident Evil 4
With smart enemies that can use group tactics, carry weapons and dodge gunfire, the Los Iluminados aren't the type of enemy that anyone was expecting. These new "smart zombies" were more dangerous than previous enemies of any Resident Evil game yet. While the all too-human Ganados are a lot scarier than ambling zombies, they're still easily foiled by ladders and crowded doorways. Still, the boss battles were an awesome part in every chapter. Who doesn't remember that huge lake fight with Del Lago?
THE WINNER: Resident Evil 5
Did we mention that the Majini ride motorcycles, pack semi-auto machine guns and can jump 20 feet in the air? The Los Illuminados are smart, but the enemies in RE5 are amazingly tough, agile and most of all, persistent.

The bonus graphics round doesn't really fit into this. RE 4 was from last gen, and lets face it the Wii version had pretty much the same graphics. But I'm happy RE 4 won overall, because I think Leon is so much more badass than Chris, and Ada is way better than Sheva.

Really? You guys compared the multiplayer of the two when one didn't even have multiplayer? And how did RE5 win best monsters? The majority of the monsters in RE5 were incredibly similar to those in RE4 and were done in a much better fashion in RE4.
