ACT V: AFTERMATH
CHAPTER I: ESCAPE
You'll be gunning this time around, so make sure to lead your shots and waste few bullets. Watch for waves of incoming explosives, and hit the right stick to dodge around them when necessary. After a short ride, you'll see some of your COG crew are in a tough spot.
[Defend your fellow Gears.]
Land your ride and shoot anything that's not human. Once you've handled the small fish, a Brumak will bust out of the wall and rush your position. About two or three shots to the face from your Reaver's explosive weaponry will suffice, but aim carefully.
Don't blink, because you'll soon come face-to-face with Skorge on his Hydra, which is essentially a Reaver on some serious steroids. Make sure to always keep an eye on your caboose, and never switch weapons for any reason. Fire at the Hydra's turret guns when prompted, and dodge any incoming missile fire. If the giant beast tries to take a bite out of you, shoot it in the mouth until it backs off. With some luck, you'll escape the Locust stronghold and hit some fresh open sky.
[Ride the Reavers into Jacinto.]
This chase is REALLY tough, since you'll have to focus on flying and shooting at the same time. Enemy Locust will try to blow you out of the air with everything they have, so use that evasive shuffle as much as possible. Once you get far enough, the Hydra will return as pissed off and nasty as ever.
Boss Battle: Hydra
Don't get too overzealous with the machine gun. If it overheats, those few precious seconds could mean the difference between life and death. When the Hydra grabs you with its tentacles, shoot the limbs to shake it off. Skorge will pressure you with missile fire during the entire fight, so either blow them up or dodge them entirely.
The most important thing in this battle is shooting the Hydra squarely in the jaw with a well-aimed missile when it looms in front of your Reaver. If you miss, you'll get chewed up and have to start over. After destroying some limbs and getting off a few shots to the Hydra's face, it'll fall to pieces and send Skorge plummeting to the ground below.
Suit up Gears, on to Jacinto!
CHAPTER II: DESPERATE STAND
[Take position on the outer perimeter.]
[Clear the landing platform of enemy forces.]
Thankfully, there's plenty of ammo to be found in your own headquarters, so use whatever you can grab to defend the base. If you see Reavers drop down on the platforms, use your most accurate weapons to disable the riders first. After some skirmishes, run ahead to the west gates and get ready for a hectic firefight.
By the way, make sure to pick up a COG Recon Report on the side path just past the balcony overlooking the landing platform, next to the crouching Gear.
[Move to the west gates and support the other Gears.]
[Defend the street entrance to the courtyard.]
There should be some Mulchers at the rear of the structure, so use them to blow up any vehicles the Locust Drones are hiding behind. If you're worried about taking hits, simply use your own guns instead of the heavy Mulcher, but pick them up again when you get your next objective. Once your backup arrives to handle the incoming Reavers, head for the north gates.
[Move to the north gates and support the other Gears.]
[Defend the Comm-Sat Array by destroying 6 more Reavers.]
Man the turret and shoot the Reavers out of the sky. If any of them land in front of the Comm-Sat, hit them as hard as possible before they can get any missiles fired off. Once you're through here, grab a Mulcher and get to the north gates.
[Defend the north gates.]
While mortars will work fine against the smaller grubs, they'll be pretty useless against the Brumaks that come to crash the party. The minute you see them, grab a nearby Mulcher and hit them in the face with a generous helping of hot metal death. After they've been taken down, you'll get a new set of objectives from Control -- which means you're going back underground.
CHAPTER III: FREE PARKING
[Head to the sunken area of the city.]
[Clear the archives building of enemies.]
Unfortunately, this courtyard is crammed with Locust. As if the Drones with rifles weren't bad enough, there's plenty of Snipers to make things just a little bit harder. Dom should be okay running interference, so hang back at the very rear cover position and take as many long-range shots as you can.
Don't worry about running out of ammo, since you'll have a bountiful ammo sweep to compensate for it. Once the Flame Boomers show up, you're almost ready to advance into the archives building, so take 'em down before they can burn you. Do that ammo sweep, run up to your entrance, and start lobbing grenades the minute get inside the building.
Kill the Theron Guard first before it can start reviving fallen Locust. Dom will lay down some covering fire from the balcony above, so take a breather when you need to. Once these enemies are toast, you'll only have a split second to do an ammo sweep and get some cover before a Grinder barges into the room. Blow him up and take his Mulcher off his hands. Regroup with Dom, and get ready for heavy firefighting at the next checkpoint.
[Secure the courtyard.]
Use grenades and the Mulcher to take care of the turret gunner first, then kill of the Locust everywhere else in the courtyard. Take special notice of the Theron Guards on the leftmost area, since they'll be raising their dead comrades as soon as you kill them. After all of them are on ice, some Maulers will show up with Wretches in tow. Don't waste ammo on the small fry -- just melee them when they're close enough. Now that the last of this Locust wave is dead, pick up any stray ammo and a Boomshield; keep advancing to the next checkpoint.
[Proceed down Cooper Street.]
Past the iron gate, you'll encounter a few more Locust, topped off with a Grinder that's blocking your path. Shoot each grub down, and you'll come to Cooper Street. The branching paths will take you down either the streets or up into the garage, so pick a route and keep pressing towards the sunken area.
Whoever goes through the streets will have to take contend with Locust while the teammate going through the garage can send down additional cover. After the first barrier, the teammate in the garage can run up to the tank and hit X to kick it out the window. Once you guys regroup at the bottom, kill the next Grinder and steal his Mulcher for the next stretch of road.
Try to use your Mulcher to destroy the Locust's cover when you can. Crates and cars will explode thanks to the heavy shell rounds, and it'll save ammo on your other equipment. The building at the end of the road will collapse, and a Mauler will lumber out of the smoke. Kill him, jack his Boomshield, and keep going down Cooper Street.
CHAPTER IV: TENUOUS FOOTING
[Make it to the bottom of the sinkhole.]
Wow. Jacinto's definitely seen better days.
[Use the cranes to cross the chasm.]
You can control the crane with both analog sticks, the left one for vertical movement and the right one for horizontal. Move your load to the far left and pick up Dom, then deposit him in the middle of rubble on the lower level. Once the second crane is lowered, Marcus will be able to get across, but laying down some cover fire can speed things up.
When you're across the gap, watch for grappling hooks to get a bead on some more incoming Locust, and use your rifle to put down the incoming Mauler. Picking up his Boomshield is a good idea as always, since you'll be facing Tickers and a Flame Boomer just around the corner.
Get to the bottom of the structure, and you'll find an unexpectedly convenient way down into the pit of the sinkhole.
[Find a way into the cavern.]
[Escape the burning building.]
After the Brumak brings down the house, you'll have to vacate the room before the fire cooks you and Dom alive. Follow Dom to the elevator and hit the switch to get moving. You'll barely get a few floors before you have yet another setback -- that Brumak from before is literally right on top of you. [Kill the Brumak pilot.]
With a quick bullet to the Brumak pilot's face, you'll be one step closer to your objective. How will you get down there? Marcus seems to have a crazy idea that just might work.
Chapter V: CLOSURE
[Find a way to collapse Jacinto.]
You'll be in control of the Brumak from here on out, so get comfy -- this is going to be one awesome ride.
Use the machine guns on the Locusts Drones that scurry away at the sight of you. Anything bigger than a Boomers should be greeted with a volley of missiles, or you can just melee attack the small fry if you're close enough. When the Locust start shining spotlights on you, use your missiles and blow up the towers to avoid getting targeted.
[Defeat the Corpser.]
After a handful of Reavers, you'll have to face down a Corsper, but this time the odds seem more than fair -- just hammer down on the melee button to make quick work of this battle.
[Destroy the torture barge.]
Missile fire will take care of the barge, no sweat. The real challenge is still far ahead, so don't get too complacent. Bust down the next door, and you'll see your real objective at long last -- time to sink Jacinto once and for all.
[Destroy the 3 columns to create an opening for the choppers.]
The only way to drop Jacinto on the Locust Hollow is to blow up the 3 columns directly in front of you. Don't take too much time trying to shoot down any skyward Locust, but you'll still need to be careful. There's plenty of Immulsion-infected grubs that will crash land in your immediate vicinity.
[Kill the Immulsion-infected Brumak.]
All right, Gears, this is the last stop on the Ass-Kicking Express!
You'll finally get your hands on the Hammer of Dawn, and this weapon is perhaps the easiest to use out of the whole bunch. Just keep your finger pressed down on the trigger, and keep your laser trained on the mutated Brumak. After some extended exposure to satellite fire, the huge, pulsating monster will start to burst at the seams. Get the heck out of dodge, sit back, and enjoy the closing cutscene. CONGRATULATIONS, you've beaten Gears of War 2!
PS: Make sure to stick around after the credits... there's a mysterious and disturbing message from a certain major character waiting for you at the end.

Nice feature, even if I have to question some of the scores. You guys like rank the pistols 1) Snub 2) Boltok 3) Gorgon? Come on now...
I guess it also boils down to what guns you're good and comfortable with.
