11 Action Heroes that Deserve their Own Game

With every movie getting multi-million dollar game adaptations, a few action movies didn't get a fair shake in videogames. Here's 11 action heroes that deserved better.
Some famous movie characters have a surplus of games. We've stepped into the shoes of Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, James Bond, and every notable superhero so many times that we've started to grow bored of their exploits. There's a handful of iconic characters that haven't been represented in games or have been embarrassed by poorly-designed adaptations. We can only hope to one day see these 11 characters in games that properly pay homage to their adventures.
11- Ben Richards
Previously Kicked Ass In: The Running Man
Why He'd Make a Great Game Hero: In the future, game shows feature criminals as contestants, muscle-bound, weapon-clad freaks as opponents, and square miles of booby-trapped wasteland as the soundstage. While there were a handful of forgettable games based on the movie for some of the lesser-known consoles of the day, Arnold Schwartzenegger's turn as Ben Richards in The Running Man provides plenty of exciting gameplay fodder for today's consoles. First, you take down enemies like the hockey swordsman Sub-Zero, the electricity-producing Dynamo, and the cycle-driving chainsaw-weilding Buzzsaw. After clearing everything the producers throw at you, you take the fight to the network, killing Killian himself. We'd personally like to see a Wii version, where players can realistically recreate Ben Richards' promise of ramming fists into stomachs and breaking goddamn spines.
10- El Mariachi
Previously Kicked Ass In: El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Why He'd Make a Great Game Hero: "Let's Play!" Antonio Banderas says as El Mariachi in the second film (as well as in the trailer) in Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn, Planet Terror)'s underrated Mariachi trilogy, and that's exactly what we'd like to do. Western-themed action games, when done right, can be some of the most fun you'll have in the shooter genre. From Sunset Riders to Red Dead Revolver, there have been a number of cool games that touch on this subject. Anyone who's seen the films will likely agree that El Mariachi would make a badass video game protagonist.
9- Casey Ryback
Previously Kicked Ass In: Under Siege, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory
Why He'd Make a Great Game Hero: The name Casey Ryback may not be as recognizable as Rambo or Snake Plisken, but the silly name given to Steven Seagal's bone-snapping Navy SEAL turned chef of the Under Siege film series doesn't really matter. The fact that this action hero is a cook who beats the living hell out the group of mercenaries who attempt to highjack the battleship he works on is reason enough to want to play this in video game form. If nothing else, there's been too great of a shortage of games that take place on a boat (Cold Fear, and um...), and who doesn't want to reenact the incredible knife fight against Tommy Lee Jones at the end of the first Under Siege?
8- Leonidas
Previously Kicked Ass In: 300
Why He'd Make a Great Game Hero: As one of last year's top-grossing action movies, 300 deserved much more than a half-baked PSP brawler. When you see the highly-stylized amazingly choreographed battles of the war epic, the mind doesn't gravitate towards a PS1-looking portable title. No, what 300 deserved was an high-def action brawler war-title. Basically taking the brutal moves of God of War and making them work in a Dynasty Warriors-like environment. Between the many different armies felled by the Spartans and the larger, seemingly unsurmountable enemies like war elephants, rhinos, and the sexually ambiguous Xerxes, there was no shortage of amazing enemies in the film. Too bad we couldn't take them on ourselves.
7- Cordell Walker
Previously Kicked Ass In: Walker, Texas Ranger
Why He'd Make a Great Game Hero: For all his popularity on the internet, Chuck Norris deserves more of a gaming legacy than a recently released cell-phone game. In particular, his turn as karate-practicing cowboy Cordell Walker, should have been a shoe-in for a great game mixing brawling and shooting, not to mention the potential for extremely dramatic cut-scenes featuring Walker informing children of their fatal illnesses. Unfortunately, Conan O'Brien's favorite action hero probably won't ever receive his own much-deserved games.

A Running Man video game would be so freaking sweet. And give me a badass Western shooter with the Man with No Name in it NOW.

Why hasn't Rambo had a strong game? perfect for it. And why can't there be a good Western/Shooter game? If someone could make one (and Not Call of Juarez), a Clint Eastwood-based character would rule!
