Meet the GamePros: Find Out Who We Are!

What is your favorite game of all time?
The Legend of Zelda for NES. I've played through it hundreds of times--heck, I was speed-running that game before the term was even invented.

What is your favorite console of all time?
PlayStation 1. Some of the games may not have aged well, but it's the system that made me realize how big a part of my life videogames would be.

Normal or inverted?
Normal. If the time ever comes that I'll need to brandish a firearm, I don't want to start aiming it in the opposite direction.

Most Memorable Gaming Moment of All Time?
Beating Patrick Shaw at Mario Strikers Charged after losing to him for roughly 4 straight months.

Favorite movies?
The Back to the Future trilogy pwns all.

Favorite TV series?
The Simpsons, The State, Survivor, Lost, and X-Files.

Favorite books?
World War Z, A Confederacy of Dunces, and Things Fall Apart.

First review for GamePro?
My first review ever was for the Genesis game collection Sega Smash Pack for a now-defunct Dreamcast fansite called Swirlvision. My first GamePro review was Sonic the Hedgehog for Xbox 360. Blech.

Proudest non-gaming moments?
Performing a stand-up comedy set to a sold out crowd and running in a half-marathon.

What is your favorite game of all time?
Flashback. I've always enjoyed platformers, but this game significantly upped the ante. Incredible moves, an engaging story centered on memory loss, and beautiful animation - even to this day.

What is your favorite console of all time?
Sega Genesis, if only for nostalgia and the amount of time I spent with the thing. I was in middle school at the time, so there was ample time to play - perhaps more than I ever had before or since.

Normal or inverted?
Normal. We're not flying planes, after all.

Most Memorable Gaming Moment of All Time?
Seeing the first Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus. Simply wonderful. Though there's something to be said for the fascination of seeing an NES cut scene for the first time (here's looking at you, Double Dribble dunk close-up).

Favorite movies?
Shawshank Redemption because patience is a virtue. Rudy because you can do anything you want if you work hard enough. And Ratatouille because anyone can cook.

Favorite TV series?
Seinfeld. I've been rewatching the thing for 10 years straight since it ended in 1998. There has never been a funnier sitcom. I'm convinced there never will be.

Favorite books?
The Chosen because it's a great story. The Old Man and The Sea for making me cry. The AP Guide to News Writing for teaching me how to be a reporter. And The Four-Hour Work Week for helping me work smarter.

First review for GamePro?
Guitar Hero 3 for combining two things I love: rhythm games and breaking stories, in this case the fact that the Wii version shipped in mono. I usually stick to news and feature writing, however.

The most influencial game designer?
Shigeru Miyamoto, hands down (though his upcoming Wii Music feels terribly misguided. Virtual Boy 2.0 anyone?)

What is your favorite game of all time?
At the expense of losing my gaming credibility I'll have to say The Sims. I could spend hours playing that game.

What is your favorite console of all time?
I am really impressed with what Nintendo has accomplished with the Wii, but you can't beat the original NES.

Normal or inverted?
Normal.

Most Memorable Gaming Moment of All Time?
Introducing my parents and their friends to the Wii is one night that I will never forget.

Favorite movies?
Well, purely based on the number of viewings, I'd have to say Lethal Weapon with the pre-crazy Mel Gibson. But, as for my all-time favorites, you just can't beat Paul Newman in The Hustler. And last but not least, Vincent Price's amazing House of Wax. I like watching Paris Hilton getting brutally slaughtered as much as the next person, but Price's Wax is a classic by all accounts.

Favorite TV series?
I may be the only girl you know who actually likes westerns so I'm going to say Deadwood, with Squidbillies in a close second.

Favorite books?
I am really into Chuck Palahniuk right now, but I also love fantasy novels. You know, the really embarrassing kind with dragons and what not. My top three are Palahniuk's Diary, Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Song, and Stephen King's Firestarter.

What was the first console that you owned?
Well I begged my parents for an NES and an SNES but they weren't going for it. So I saved up and bought myself a Sega GameGear.
