Luigi's Mansion (Area 3)

In each of the last two areas, you have to face down six main ghosts and a boss, so get a hold of yourself and continue on to win back the Mansion and Mario's freedom!
Even in the afterlife, this guy wants to be buffed out. Walk to any of the three punching bags that surround him. It's best to use the ones to his left or right as it will be tougher to see the one directly behind him.

Walk up to the bag and give it a punch by pressing the A button, then quickly move aside or it will swing back and hit you. You need to do this three times before you can zap him with the Hoover. If he gets away, use the punching bag again. This time, it only takes one swing to leave him open to attack.
You can choose to skip this ghost if you like since he gives up only a Diamond that is not needed to proceed further. There is a walking machine in the room that coughs up a shortcut key if you walk on it long enough.

On the table, there are three balls of yarn. Knock them over, and one-by-one suck them up and shoot them at grandma. You must hit her with all three balls-so if you lose one or miss, exit the room and re-enter to start over.
Hey, hey what do we have here? A lovely ghost for a change, eh? Pull back the curtain for a reality check and make sure you have the Ice Medal (see sidebar, Last-Minute Handy Tips, Topsy Turvy) and, of course, some ice to freeze her with.
Use your freeze attack first and then use your vacuum. You will not need to use your light here. Apparently, there are lots of pearls hiding in the tub, so pick them up as you vacuum.

While using your vacuum here, move Luigi under the toy helicopters in a circular motion so they spin in the direction they are facing (counterclockwise). You can also try standing on the bunk bed to spin them as well.
After a few rotations, the twins will appear and ask you to play hide-and-seek. Say, "yes," and then exit the room. When you re-enter, the twins will be hiding in boxes. Their hiding place changes randomly every time you enter the room, so if you mess up, just exit and try again until you find them.
Once you pick the right boxes, the twins attack in a plane and in a toy car. Vacuum away their vehicles and then suck them up.
Although they don't give you a key, they do give you Mario's Shoe, which is one of the ?ve items you need (see sidebar, Mario Items).

You can see the owner of the ?oating pool cue in the mirror-but to defeat him, wait until he strikes the balls. As they ?y into the air, suck one up and fire it back at him. Be careful as the balls will slowly try to put Luigi in a corner pocket.
There is no key or important item for reward other than a big honking diamond, so this is one dude you can pass over if you think he'll put you behind the eight ball.
Once you have all five Mario items, you should go see what the lady and the crystal ball have to say. To make her appear, use your Game Boy Horror on her chair. You do not need to light the candles in the room to make her appear.
After consulting the lady about each Mario item, she will give you some more insight into the mysteries of the house. To show your gratitude, you can now shine a bright light on her and vacuum. Again, watch for all the pearls that are dropped.

A bunch of Boos seem to be playing ring around the rosey, but looks are deceiving! They combine and form a huge Boo that will trounce around looking to make a Luigi pancake. Stay near one of the two statues at either end to help you avoid a premature squashing. Use your vacuum to grab its tail and move it over the statue. This will disrupt the formation and scatter the Boos.
There is ice available from the statues, so suck that in and use it on the smaller Boos. Once frozen, they can be sucked up quickly. After a while, they will re-form into one larger entity, so grab, smash, freeze, vacuum, and repeat until all 15 are put down. This will clear Area 3.
