E3 Ultimate Preview Guide! (Page 3 of 4)

Resident Evil 5- Xbox 360

Resident Evil 5's online co-op mode was shown off for the first time in a live demonstration along with the game's new playable female character Sheva Alomar. During the demo, one player provided sniper support as Chris while the other player as Sheva mowed down enemies up close with an automatic weapon, and they eventually run into Resident Evil 5's new chainsaw-wielding adversary. While it doesn't look like RE5 will play a lot differently from the last game in the series (the enemy death animations are strikingly similar to those from Resident Evil 4) that's certainly not a bad thing and we're excited to finally see an official release date (March 13, 2009).

Gears of War 2- Xbox 360

New campaign gameplay footage from the sequel to the Xbox 360's best-selling gritty shooter, Gears of War 2, displayed the player's ability to set Locust enemies on fire with the flamethrower weapon and use them as meat shields to absorb oncoming enemy fire, both of which were shown during the demo. A new multiplayer mode called Horde was also announced where players will literally shred through wave after wave of Locust baddies. As far as we can tell, it looks like the team behind Gears 2 is trying to push the game as far as it can go in terms of the multitude of things going on the screen at once.

Fallout 3- Xbox 360

Fallout 3 supposedly offers up over a hundred hours of gameplay which is pretty ridiculous by any measure. But now comes word that lucky Xbox 360 and PC gamers will get exclusive downloadable content to extend their already lengthy stay in Bethesda's post-apocalyptic playground. Our advice to PS3 owners: play slowly so you can make those measly 100+ hours last longer.

Fable 2- Xbox 360

Fable 2 is finished development, but that doesn't mean there's nothing new to be gleaned about this ambitious RPG. Co-op mode promises a lobby-less experience that allows you to pull a player into your single-player game and make it co-op. Be careful: they may covet your wife.

Portal: Still Alive

Just when we thought we'd seen the last of that lovable disembodied villainess, GLADOS, we get word that a new "sequel" is being launched on Microsoft's Live Arcade service. It will feature more mind-bending levels to navigate as well as new achievements to unlock, which is a colossal win for gamers. Here's hoping the beloved Weighted Companion Cube makes a comeback--our nights have been really lonely ever since we dropped it in the incinerator.

Geometry Wars 2- Xbox 360

Geometry Wars 2 is the first real sequel to the Xbox Live Arcade launch classic (screw Galaxies). From what was shown, the game is keeping the sweet space style of the original, while adding in a ton of new enemies and modes. We loved the rows of enemies bearing down the screen like Space Invaders baddies, but didn't like what seemed to be a countdown clock. since the original plays great interrupted.

You're in the Movies- Xbox 360

Have you ever wanted to gather up your buddies and make your very own crappy movie but didn't have the resources to do so? That's basically what you'll be able to do in You're in the Movies, a game that places you and your friends in a variety of backgrounds and movie scenarios via the Xbox Live Vision Camera it's packaged with. You shouldn't expect to make anything that resembles The Godfather with You're in the Movies, but the game still looks like it could turn out to be fun.

Lips- Xbox 360

You may have thought you've seen enough karaoke games, but Lips could be the last one you need. According to Microsoft, you can hook up your iPod or Zune (let's face it, your iPod) and pick any song and sing it the lyrics into custom mics that light up depending on your performance. Sounds cool, but are we to believe that this thing can find lyrics to every song we own?

looks good, watched it live on G4 and at the movies looks surprisingly like eye toy but with the added videos at the end, and lips looks almost exactly to singstar

Good stuff, especially the Fallout 3 DLC. I'm going to be playing the crap out of that game, so I'll need it.

cant wait till Sony's conference. to tell the truth i think thats the only thing ppl are looking forward to right now. lo ljk jk, nintendo's cool too. but i'd love for Sony to just crawl back up from their kick in the balls and just bust M$'s face open with a huge surprise of their own. hell, God of War 3 footage, exclusive FF13 DLC, and even a release date for HOME will be enought to satisfy me. but M$ had a good show.
