Expect to fend off more enemy weapons.

Enemies will throw more projectiles at the player. A more dynamic AI means that enemies will be able to alter the way they attack. In the extended trailer , enemies pick up rocks and discarded weapons and throw them at Chris. As in Resident Evil 4, Chris can shoot incoming weapons out of the air, so it pays to be precise.

Real-time weather effects. In his interview with Famitsu, Takeuchi says that, "we've really tried to take the player outside as much as possible, so there are a ton of variations with the weather, the passage of time and other variables." That suggests that wind, rain, and other conditions will affect Chris as much as sunlight. How? Only Capcom knows.

The controls will be similar Resident Evil 4. In the interview with Takeuchi, the footage shows a developer playing Resident Evil 5. Character development is a bigger focus.

There will be an emphasis on character development and story. RE games have never been particularly convincing on the story side, and by end of the game players are usually left with more questions than answers. Expect a tie-in with the CG film. Huzzah!

Expect a tie-in with the CG film. Huzzah!

Resident Evil 5 will tie in to the Resident Evil CG movie. A CG movie, called Resident Evil: Degeneration is in the works. In his interview with Famitsu, Takeuchi explains that Resident Evil 5 will tie into the film in some way. There have been many characters over the course of the series, and though not all of them will show up in the game, we may see more of them in the movie and learn their fates.
