You don't have to be Al Gore to know that rechargeable batteries are a good thing. They make sense environmentally--throwing old batteries in the trash is just about the worst thing you can do--and economically--batteries are freaking expensive! Besides, between our Xbox 360 controllers, our Wii Remotes and all the different electronic devices we have lying around, having a dependable set of rechargeable batteries can often mean the difference between staying connected and being left out in the dark.

You have a ton of choices but make sure to consider the Sanyo Eneloop line. The batteries are all white with calm blue lettering, which is pretty soothing to look at but more importantly, they last a really long time. We like the Power Pack which comes with four double-A batteries, a quick charger and four adapters that let you use the double-A sized batteries in devices that require C- and D-batteries.
