The Hype:
Though performance-enhancing drugs are looked down upon in the world of sports, in the gaming universe more characters, like Samus, are taking them to produce one hell of an experience. Shane Carpenter, the main character in the game, uses a drug called Nectar that gives him enhanced abilities including speed, strength and accuracy.
Why You Want To Play It:
The great advantage to Nectar is that it instills supernatural powers in the user. Sgt. Carpenter gets Jedi-esque powers at his disposal: focus, perception and foresight. The rock band Korn wrote an original track for the game pefroms the in-game music. This hard-rocking soundtrack will give added adrenalin to the 4 player co-op mode.
The Hype:
Every played a shooter and thought, "If I just acted one second earlier I could have taken that guy down." Timeshift grants you that ability. Players will be able to stop, slow down and rewind time. While this may not be a new convention in gaming, it's one of the few shooters to actually pull it off.
Why You Want To Play It:
Timeshift plays off the idea of a dystopia, much as BioShock does. The time-controlling mechanism is not revolutionary, but in the context of a shooter provides new avenues for players to explore strategy. Much of the story sounds like a clone of The Terminator, however it's undeniable that the suit looks incredibly cool and stopping a bullet just before it smashes through your skull is something we've been dying to see.
The Hype:
Ultimate power of destruction -- the best words to describe Battlefield: Bad Company. Over 90% of the in-game world is destructible. This means you will have to adjust your strategy to accomplish missions. If there's an enemy hiding behind a wall, have your sniper take out a chunk of its corner so the rest of your unit can come in and annihilate.
Why You Want To Play It:
Any opportunity we have to play as an anti-hero is great. This squad-based game follows a unit that's gone AWOL chasing down a truck filled with gold. "Iron sight," the aiming mechanic feature in Battlefield 2 returns Bad Company, however this time it promises to be more robust and central to the gameplay.
