Hiro Nakamura ain't got nothin' on the Beta Suit, a revolutionary time-manipulation device that you'll master in TimeShift.
TimeShift is one of the more innovative shooters to come down the pike, as well as one of the best-looking. In TimeShift, you take control of time and combine it with first-person shooting to unleash some of the most amazing visuals ever put to a video game. Here are the can't-miss moments of this time-trippy fragfest.
10. Enter the Shift.
They say the devil is in the details, but in TimeShift, the details are heaven: Destructible environments that stay damaged throughout the map, no matter how long you play. They call it persistent parallax-mapped decals. We call it brutal, uncompromising realism. Take your pick.
9. Unleashing the Power of Time
Take that, and rewind it back -- TimeShift gives you the ability to make that bad guy go smack. Again and again. Freeze time and rip the weapon out of your enemy's hand. Reverse time when you've been discovered, and sneak through via a different path. Stick a grenade on your foe, then slow him with a Time Slow Grenade and watch him blow into chunks in super slo-mo. The best part? Wait 'til you hear him scream bloody agony verrry sllllooooowwwwllllllyyyy as his body tears apart.
8. Entering the Alpha District
Be prepared to fight for your life when you enter the eerie Alpha District, a desolate zone void of hope and humanity, and ruled with an iron fist by the evil Dr. Krone, creator of the time shifting technology and wielder of the alpha suit, the first generation of time travel technology. The revolution will be bloody.
7. Getting Creative in Your Own Time
Knock over that stack of boxes, freeze time and use them as stairs to reach higher levels, thanks to the Havok physics system used on every item in the game. But while time is frozen, take a spare moment to empty an entire clip into an enemy, just as a way to say, "you're special." Re-start time and watch them explode. Or if you wanna get your Singin' in the Rain on, splatter him while he's sky-high, and then dance through the falling parts as they splat in surround sound. Splish splash, you'll be takin' a bath!
6. Those Guys are Smart!
Enemy AI takes a quantum leap forward in TimeShift -- these smart foes will do everything they can to keep up with your time-bending powers, and their unpredictability and intelligence put them several leaps ahead of mere cannon fodder. You can't spend too much time admiring the shocked looks on your foes' faces as you bend time to your will, because they'll call out to each other and break into search parties, take flanking positions and toss grenades to flush you out.
5. Mowing the Grass
You don't need time-stopping powers to mow down your enemies in the high-velocity ATV. Better hope those windshield wipers work on bone bits...
4. Escort Mission Instant Replay
So let's say an enemy sneaks up from behind and kills your allied fighter during the uprising against Dr. Krone. All is not lost! Use Time Reverse to track down his assassin and ventilate him before he even knows where you are. Spruce things up by freezing him while he rushes in for a melee attack, then get behind him and crush his skull with some merciless melee attacks.
3. The Alt-Fire Grenade
Nifty tricks abound in TimeShift. You can lob an arcing alt-fired grenade from your assault rifle and time its explosion to detonate directly above a group of rallying enemies. That's gonna smart in the morning, dude. Maybe we'll send you flowers. Maybe not.
2. Ultimate Multiplayer Control
Ultimate control, at your fingertips, all the time: Change or alter any game type or preference within any multiplayer match on the fly. This means you don't have to exit and restart the server if someone doesn't like your combination of Steel Skin, InstaGib and Low-Gravity. If they complain, hit them with a reverse grenade and let them kill themselves with their own shots. Huzzah!
1. Enter the Beta Suit
Created by the revolutionary N.E.X.T.2 (Next-Gen Exploration of Time Travel) program headed by Dr. Aiden Krone, the Beta suit is the latest and greatest in military technology, fusing the best theories in assault enhancement with bleeding edge quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics. Not only will this highly maneuverable, ceramic-based armor repel high-velocity projectiles and protect its bearer from inclement conditions, it's also your ticket to control the power of time, thanks to S.S.A.M. (Strategic System for Adaptable Metacognition), a built-in artificial intelligence that fuses with your central nervous system.
That was the long explanation. The short one? Prepare to kick some time-hoppin' ass.
