Fun Fact: DaveMayCry has an impressive video game collection...which he hides in the closet when girls come over.
Name: David Rudden (DaveMayCry)
Number of previous E3's you've attended: 3
Year your first E3 took place: 2004, the year of the DS, PSP, and the first Twilight Princess trailer. Never before have I heard hooting and hollering at a press conference.
What was your overall impression of this year's E3?
In terms of announcements, this was one of the biggest E3's in years. Lots of big companies made many big announcements and there were some great games on display. It's just a shame the show itself came wrapped in a plain paper bag.
How did it compare to E3's of past years? Was it better, worse or just as good?
My experience was pretty good--I saw a few great games and I didn't have to deal with the craziness of the show floor to find them. But on the other hand, the gigantic E3 show floor afforded the opportunity to see what every company had to offer--the good and the bad. I felt like I got the tastiest slice of pizza, but E3 is all about gorging yourself on the entire pie and barfing half of it back up. That, by the way, is the best description of the show you will read anywhere.
What was the most memorable moment of this year's E3?
The new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer revived my interest in the series that Metal Gear Solid 3 all but killed. The Wii Fit unveiling was also pretty neat. I also don't think I'll ever forget Konami's 15-minute press conference, with the Silent Hill V announcement followed minutes later by the eviction of the press to make way for the next hastily prepared press conference.
Who had the best E3: Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony?
Nintendo, followed ever so closely by Sony, with Microsoft bringing up the rear. Nintendo just puts on an amazing show every year, and the company's willingness to think outside the box has just done wonders. Sony and Microsoft are still fighting for the same hardcore audience, and I think Sony appealed to them a bit more this year with the many new games they had on display. Microsoft had some neat games, but the company's new announcements were pitiful.
Which game left the biggest impression on you?
Metal Gear Solid 4. Wii Fit didn't quite meet my expectations when I got to try it, but I'm still holding out hope. Other great games: Echochrome, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Rock Band, and Contra IV.
Here is DaveMayCry's summation of Contra IV: "Run right and shoot." That is pure poetry.

Wow. E3 was way better in earlier years. Ah, those were the cheerleaders, uh, I mean days. Days. Wow. I just got a boner. Heh heh.
