7 Games Mysteriously Missing from E3

E3 didn't completely live up to all its hype. Here are 7 big games that were mysteriously absent from the show.

E3 was smaller and somewhat less important this year. That's not to say publishers didn't come out in spades to show their latest lineups of games. There were a few distinct absentees, all big games that we would have loved to see. Some are obvious and some are speculation, but having these games shown this week would have made our trip down to Santa Monica a little more meaningful.

We weren't that surprised that GTA IV wasn't shown.

GTA IV

It's not like anyone thought GTA IV was going to be at E3, but we can't say it wouldn't have been nice. The fourth game in the series lands in October and we're expecting it to be good. Rockstar is notoriously known for having a small presence at E3s past, and often the company is a no-show entirely, just like this year.

Spore

EA announced at its pre-E3 event a couple weeks ago that Spore wasn't going to be one of the 30-plus EA games shown at E3. It's quite a bummer, too. Will Wright's next epic PC game could be a masterpiece, but aside from the showing of the initial stages, we haven't really seen what Spore can do. And with continuous delays, we don't expect the game will launch until well into 2008, unfortunately.

Kratos probably won't hit the PS3 for a while.

God of War 3

Director Cory Barlog recently said the God of War team is working on something other than God of War 3, but we think he's just keeping the press of his trail. We know God of War 3 is in development, and what a massive surprise it would have been to see a trailer of the game at Sony's press conference at E3. It could have single-handedly swayed Sony fans into frenzy mode.
