This bizarre barnyard is the area you get to just after you rescue Mrs. Bee?s hive and take out the hill of Dung Beetles at the beginning of the game. It?s actually the most ?traditional? 3D platformer area in the game--a nice, familiar Banjo-Kazooie-ish place to get you ready for what weirdness lies ahead. Why do you do Chapter Four before Chapter Three? Uhhhhh?
Marvin
The first thing you want to do here is head to the front right of the barn, where Marvin the Flatulent Mouse is terrorizing Jack the Steel Cube and his wife?the steel cube. Jacks tells you that if you get rid of the mouse, something good?s in store--he then tells you that Burt, his friend (and fellow steel cube) will help you out.
After visiting Jack, head way to the back of the level, behind the barn, where Burt the Steel Cube guards the entrance to the Cheese Kennel. Talk to Burt, and the gate to the kennel will open up. Walk inside, smack any one of the terrified pieces of Swiss with your frying pan, and then pick him up (just touching him will do it). Leave the Kennel with the cheese and head to the left, where the two GIANT Steel Cubes are hopping back and forth--sneak beneath them without getting crushed, and bring the cheese back to Marvin the Mouse. He?ll eat the cheese, and then ask for more. Repeat this two more times, and Marvin will be taken care of, and Jack?s wife will get off his back.
Now, the astute observer will note that Jack and his wife seem to make a staircase. Use them to hop up onto the gutters alongside the barn, and then leap up and to the right to the rooftop, where a switch and a $100 bundle of cash await. Step on the switch, and the back barn door will swing open. Grab the cash, and you?ll have $200 to your name. Now, go into the newly opened barn.
OH, BUT WAIT! Before you go in there, you should know about a secret area that?ll be useful pretty much the whole game through?
If you get up on the cliff behind the Cheese Kennel, jump around a bit and you?ll notice that a lightbulb (the same one Conker sees when there?s a Context Sensitive platform) appears above your head while you?re leaping. Press B when this happens, and you?ll turn into an anvil, smashing the cliff face and revealing a Conker?s Tail that?s worth 10 regular Conker?s Tails--plus, you can collect it every time you die or re-enter the level!
Mad Pitchfork
Once inside the barn, run past all the hopping haystacks to the back, where the crazy pitchfork starts to attack. Lead the pitchfork into area with all the haystacks, and lead the pitchfork into killing all the haystacks. The best way to do it is to stand so that you?re between the Pitchfork and the Haystack you want to see dead, wait until Pitchfork winds up to strike, and then leap into the air out of the way as the folk lunges. After all the haystacks are defeated, jump up and pull the lever in the back left corner of the front area, and head back outside the way you came in.
Sunny Days
Ready for one of the weirdest parts of the game? When you emerge from the barn door, talk to the downtrodden King Bee to the right to learn his disturbing desire. Then, go over to the giant sunflower woman by the entrance and talk to her to find out her?uh?strange weakness. Now you have to find five swarms of bees and bring them back to her. You can collect all five at once before returning. Here they are?
(1) Return to the area with the hopping wooden crate and talk to the swarm. You must get these guys first?the rest you can get in any order.
(2) Just to the right of the level?s main entrance. Jump up high, and they?ll join you.
(3) Up on the cliffs behind the Cheese Kennel.
(4) On top of the barn right where the barn door switch was located. Get up there the same way as before--by using Mr. & Mrs. Steel Cube as stairs.
(5) This one is tricky. After getting Bee Swarm # 4, leap up onto the peak of the barn roof (use the Z-button super-jump if you?re having trouble). Walk along the ridge toward the back of the barn, and you?ll find a ladder. Climb the ladder, and walk along the ridge of the giant wooden bucket, and you?ll find the bees. Carefully retrace your steps to get back down--if you fall in the water, the bees will abandon you, and it?s a lethal drop if you fall off the bucket.
Once you bring all five bee swarms back to the sunflower, you?ll have access to?um?er?a trampoline. Leap up onto it and press A as soon as you make contact. Press A every time you land, and you?ll bounce higher each time, until you bounce high enough to reach the nook with the $100 wad of cash ($300 total).
Barry & Co.
Once the King Bee falls out of the window in the barn, you can get into the window. Just leap up on the hopping wooden crate when it settles under the window, and use it as a stepping stone. Once inside, you need to make your way across the platforms in the roof until you reach a B platform. There are two ways to do this:
(1) The stupid way (aka the way they want you to do it. By carefully walking across the thin, precarious wooden beams between each platform, pressing B to whip out a flame-thrower when bats get close. (2) The easy way. Just jump from platform to platform and use your hover-tail ability to land; the bats won?t get near you, and it takes about three seconds.
When you reach the Context Sensitive platform, press B to whip out some throwing knives. Aim at the hanging bats, and press Z to throw a knife. Once you take out all the bats, turn around and hurl a knife at the rope that?s holding up the Mad Pitchfork and cut him loose, then leap down to the barn floor again.
Buff You
Hop on the Mad Pitchfork?s back and head to where the Giant Evil Haystack is hopping around. Keep moving, and stay behind him avoiding his hand. Press B to charge at him with the Pitchfork from the side (from directly behind is difficult since he hops away from you too fast)--do that 3 times, and then leap into the hole he makes in the floor. If you get injured, run away and hop back onto the pitchfork, and grab sound chocolate health--it replenishes itself quickly in this battle.
Haybot Wars
Easy once you know what to do. Hop on the pitchfork, and quickly hide behind one of the three vertical pipes. Haybot will fire a missile at you, but it will hit the pipe instead, and water will start pouring our. Haybot will stop firing missiles. Stand in the gush of water to lead Haybot toward you, and the water will short circuit him. While?s he?s confused and spinning from the water, leap up and press B to activate the giant ?DO NOT PRESS? button on his back. After that, repeat the process 2 more times with the other 2 pipes.
Frying Tonight
It?s a race against time as the room slowly fills with water--while live electrical cables dangle! First, run toward the pipe that the giant EXIT signs point to, and climb the ladder behind that pipe. At the top, press B on the Context Sensitive platform to whip out your throwing knives. Take out the three lowest electrical cables, then leap into the water again and find a second ladder across the room to take you higher. Repeat the knife-throwing de-cabling process there, and you?ll be safe. Exit through the tunnel once the water reaches its maximum height.
Once through the tunnel, step on the monk?s stone tablet, and he?ll hurl you to the platform above, where $100 awaits. Grab the money ($400 total now) and head outside.
Slam Dunk
Now you?re on top of the barn. Climb the series of ladders, timing it so that the wasps don?t knock you off, until you reach the diving board at the top. Pressing A to do little leaps as you climb helps you move a little faster. Once there, it?s a leap of faith--jump forward off the diving board, and Press B to turn into an anvil when the lightbulb appears over your head in mid-air--you?ll plummet into the giant bucket below, and open the locked gate on the ground in the process. Go into the gate tunnel and nab the $100?you?re up to $500, baby, and now it?s time to leave the barnyard for good. Head to Poo Cabin in Chapter Two: Windy.
