HP Labs meets GamePro Labs

GamePro was at HP's Gaming Summit where HP Labs demonstrated some of their newest advanced technology, and we're here now to give you the scoop on what the future of gaming looks like.

Although it is one of the most recognizable corporations in the industry, the HP brand name isn't exactly on the tip of every gamer's tongue. We are talking about a company that is best known for its consumer electronics and desktops, after all. Even with the recent acquisition of boutique PC system vendor Voodoo--a company whose name carries a ton of weight with the hardcore PC gaming crowd--HP has still struggled to make a name for itself as a serious player in the gaming space.

That's all set to change, however: at its 2007 Gaming Summit, the company announced a renewed commitment to becoming a presence in the gaming industry and unveiled several exciting new technologies that seemed to demonstrate a willingness by the company to expand their enterprise into new and exciting directions. Three staff members from GamePro were on hand to experience the new tech, and suffice it to say, we walked away impressed. While some of the devices on display were obviously the byproduct of pure "pie-in-the-sky" R&D ingenuity, others, such as the mscape, offered up a tantalizing taste of things to come.
