GP: Do you ever play games online?
JT: Not so much. My brother is a big gamer and he tries to get me online, but I just feel so busy, I like having free time to myself.
GP: Did you play a lot of video games when you were growing up?
JT: Tons. Tons. Sega Genesis, I was there. I happened to inherit it from my older brother, so we were always playing together. He was always better than me, but I was up for the challenge.
It makes sense that Joe grew up playing this classic NES game, doesn't it?
GP: What are some of the games you remember from your childhood?
JT: Blades of Steel. It was a hockey game. We were at that non-stop. I was always a L.A. Kings fan growing up, so I would always choose them as my team. And it was relatively easy to play for three youngsters. We'd always play sports games, but mainly hockey games.
GP: Are there a lot guys on the team who play video games?
JT: Yeah, more than you'd think. Once practice is over everyone has so much free time. They go home, watch TV, movies, and play video games. I think a lot of athletes play sports games.
GP: What about on the road? Do you guys play games when traveling?
JT: Actually, we play a lot of PSP on the road. We play Socom. There's about 16 of us that have a PSP, so it's just non-stop on these long trips. It keeps us out of trouble.
GP: Does it ever get competitive?
JT: Huge. The teams are usually the same, not a lot of overlapping. We have the Seals versus the Marines and most guys like to stay with their team. It gets pretty intense sometimes.
GP: Any trash talking?
JT: Tons of trash talking. It makes the trip go by so much faster when you're playing something like that.
GP: Well, Joe, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with us. Good luck in the Stanely Cup playoffs!
On the Sony PSP: "It keeps us out of trouble."
