Saint's Row
Rif-off of: GTA 3/GTA: San Andreas
If there was every a case of blatantly coping something for the sake of doing it better, Saint's Row is that case. It's obvious to anyone who's played a GTA game (specifically GTA 3 and San Andreas, mainly because of the 90s gangster themes) how much of a replication Saint's Row was.
Everything from the controls to missions to the overall gangster coating is almost identical, but GTA games had a hint of Rockstar sandbox magic that Volition just couldn't get right. Sure everything looked great in high definition, but the bland themes, boring environments, limited vehicles, and lack of ample jumps (the list goes on) squeeze a lot of the I-just-wanna-screw-around fun out of GTA.
