Guitar Hero
Rip-off of: Guitar Freaks
Like a maguro cut roll deep fried and slathered with creamy butter sauce, Guitar Hero is essentially an Americanized version of a Japanese thing. Take Konami's unique Guitar Freaks, dip it in a bath of liquid Ozzy, and you've got Guitar Hero--pretty much a direct snatch of GF's patented wannabe rocker maker. GF's guitar controller and blazingly fast solo simulation was known to induce finger seizure, but anytime you coat something with 70s and 80s American rock music, you're in for a hell of a good time. And the fact that RedOctane/Harmonix was able to do it without alcohol is even more impressive.
Guitar Hero's presentation and at-home package was a godsend for anyone with a desire to rock, but there's just no denying the homage to what GF paved the way for.
