GDC: Gears wins Best Game award
Epic Games was declared the undeniable winner of last night's GDC awards with a total of three trophies to show for their efforts.

Nintendo gets its first taste of online and DS connectivity with Pokemon Battle Revolution, to be released this June.

Halo 2 map editor
HOT: Halo 2 for PC hands-on at GDC; map editor and campaign analyzed
We've just had a chance to play a portion of the single-player campaign from the Windows Vista port of Halo 2. GDC: Viva Viva Pinata! Rare continues to support its quirky franchise.
Although sales weren't what Rare was hoping for, the development studio still believes in the franchise, meaning a possible sequel is currently in the works.

Microsoft started off GDC 2007 by announcing a bigger memory unit for the Xbox 360 and a size limit increase for Live Arcade games to match.
GDC: Microsoft wants you to dream, build, and play for a $10,000 grand prize
At the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Microsoft announced a contest titled Dream-Build-Play, in which aspiring developers will compete to make the best game amongst a sea of applicants.

Electronic Arts announces distribution deal with MTV and Guitar Hero designers
At a posh Game Developers Conference bash held in a 15th floor luxury suite in downtown San Francisco, Electronic Arts surprised the gaming industry with the announcement that it had reached an agreement to publish an MTV-backed game currently under development by Harmonix, makers of Guitar Hero.

EA chief executive Larry Probst predicts that the PS3 will not live up the same degree of success as its forerunner, the PS2.
