Max Payne

lol This one is old. Unfortunately, this cheat DOES NOT work. At least for me on two separate pc's using two different Max Payne's.

I am an experienced gamer, cracker and pc technician and totally understand these simple instruction, it's the same executable action I used for FarCry although it was -devmode and I also had to edit a game file called DevMode.lua in order for the cheats to work.

I go into the properties of my desktop icon for Max Payne, I then add " -developer" no quotations to the "target", after the existing line, and yes I use the a space. When I open Max up it starts fine, whether I choose to load or start a new game doesn't matter, when I do and the game play actually starts I have all kinds of text on the lower half of the screen. I cannot shoot my gun nor choose from any weapons, I can move around and jump and ect. And when I press F12 it just pauses the game like "p" would and I cannot type in anything. I have seen this cheat all over the net, but after two installs on two different pc's using two different Max Payne games, I must assume this doesn't work. The poster here is quite certain in his speech that this does work, although neither here or any other forum have I found a replier agreeing with the poster on this issue.

OK. After messing around a bit I can now confirm this cheat does work. When I changed the parameter target in the shortcut and added " -developer" no quotations, then started game and began game play, all this text will pop up on most of my screen, gibberish basically but the word "warning" was everywhere. I could see a scrolling bar on the right side of the screen but I could not activate it to scroll down, I tried page down, arrow down, enter and all the obvious buttons but nothing. Then I did the equivalent of Fonzie hitting the jukebox to make it work, I ran my hand across my keyboard. Finally, I could see the line where I could type text, I backspaced the accidental text left by my keyboard sweep and entered "coder" then hit "enter." I now had god mode, full guns and ammo. I don't know exactly which button I hit in order to get the cursor I needed to type the text in, so just start from the control right button and work your way left and right from bottom up. Now when I start the game and choose load, when game play begins all that text mess is still there, but now when I hit F12, the text goes away and the game plays normal. So to get this cheat working, at least for both of my Max Payne games on two separate pc's, it's more than just adding " -developer" to the target in the desktop shortcut and typing in coder. Yes this cheat works, but these directions were lacking. Maybe my experience won't happen with all, but I know my two games are not the only ones in circulation that acted like this when attempting to activate this cheat.
